Lawn Chair Paint Project

I got the new lawn chairs done just in time for the party.  Remember these sweet but boring old fashioned lawn chairs we picked up?

Well, with some bright paint and a bit of handy work, they are now unique and look good together!

What do you think?  I think pretty soon all of these random tid bits will come together!

Chair Love

June 16, 2009 at 1:21 pm (Inspiration) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I have been feeling a bit under the weather this weekend, so sorry for the delay in posting.  We did make some more progress on the yard in preparation for the upcoming party.  But, it is rainy now (again) so pictures will have to wait a bit.  Instead, here is this weeks chair love.  A Flickr find named Den Vorsitz, by David Fisher.  Awesome!

Weekly Chair Love

June 2, 2009 at 8:02 am (Inspiration) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I spotted this weeks chair love on Flickr.  Yellow is not really my color, but I see so much potential in the baby.  A nice white vinyl?  Or black?  This chair could be gorgeous.  I love that tufting and the curved back!

Curvy Chair Love

May 27, 2009 at 11:18 am (Inspiration) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

This week my chair love comes from a random internet search.  The fun, curvy arms on this baby just jumped out at me.  What a beauty.  I’d take a couple of these for my dining room.

Hopefully we get some sun tomorrow so I can show you a few pictures of the yard progress!

Another Garage Sale Day

May 19, 2009 at 2:44 pm (Inspiration, Tid Bits) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Saturday was another small neighboring town’s garage sale day.  I made a quick pass through town in between graduation parties and picking up the puppies from the vet (aw).  I think I made out pretty well for a few dollars! Check out the finds:

For a couple of dollars each I got these adorable red vintage Pyrex dishes.  I love any red cookware, especially Pyrex.  They are so versatile, most of all the ones with the lids!  The other metal dish is an Italian hot pan.  I thought it was not only pretty but would also come in handy for fajita night!

I know the picture is a bit fuzzy, but I just loved this vintage wooden shoe mold.  I couldn’t resist its funkiness.

My First Ikea Visit- EVER!

May 19, 2009 at 7:54 am (Home Changes and Additions, Tid Bits) (, , , , , , , , , , , , )

Yes, its true.  I’m a small town girl, never been to Ikea.  We took a little road trip to Chicago this weekend with some friends to visit the monstrous store- WOW.  Love it.  That’s all you can really say.  Tony even enjoyed this shopping trip- was it the beer that you can drink while there?? 🙂  We didn’t come home with too many exciting things this time, but we got what we went for- a new duvet cover!  We also got a few pillows to replace the raggedy ones in the living room, and a yummy smelling candle.  All on the cheap!  I wish we lived closer because we will definitely be making the trip back when we need something!

The new duvet cover- looks like we need a bed-skirt too! – and the grey blanket is also from Ikea.

The big black and white pillow is actually a cover, which we stuffed with three of the old dilapidated pillows, and the black one is also new.  We think they tie in the black curtains a bit better.

A cute little delicious candle- for $2.50 you can’t go wrong!

Also- the counter-tops are half in and looking great.  They are planned to be done tonight!! Yay!

New Chair Love

May 18, 2009 at 10:55 am (Inspiration) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

This weekend has been busy.  I have many things to show you all (and the kitchen counter-tops are being installed as I type!).  But, sadly, my camera card is not working today.  So, until I figure out what to do with that (hopefully tonight!) I will show you my chair love early, and hope that I can have some exciting weekend finds for you tomorrow!

I saw this photo last week on Apartment Therapy.  This chair is in a home layout from this year’s San Francisco Decorator’s Showcase.  Sweet, huh!?

What a statment a chair like that would make!

Mini Chair Love

May 12, 2009 at 9:42 am (Inspiration) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I came across this little lucite chair and table on Ebay (thinking it was life-sized).  Did your Barbies have neat furniture like this?  I think mine are jealous!

Way cool vintage chair, even in a mini size, but I’d take the life-size set! 🙂

Funky Chair Love

May 8, 2009 at 11:29 am (Inspiration) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I found this guy on Flickr.  Titled, “The Mysterious Vintage Chair,” by fetching.  I love the shape and the detached headrest.  Wouldn’t this chair be sweet in a bright, funky fabric!?

Bamboo For The Home

May 5, 2009 at 8:26 am (Inspiration) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

My dad brought back from his recent trip to Hawaii a bamboo cutting board for us!  It is not only functional, but really pretty.  The brand, Just Bamboo, says that bamboo is harder than Maple and is a natural antimicrobial.

This got me thinking about the other ways I have heard of bamboo being used in the home.  Bamboo is now used in flooring, rugs, window coverings, and even sheets and bedding, towels, and other furniture and decor items!  Bamboo is growing in popularity because it replenishes itself much faster that trees.  Here are a few lovely pictures I uncovered while checking out the bamboo wares:

The bamboo floorings come in a variety of colors and finishes.  I love this dark one!

These cabinets are made of bamboo.

These sheets are made of bamboo.  The bamboo keeps germs away! This set comes from Bed Bath and Beyond- isn’t that color gorgeous!?

In the right room bamboo shades look great.  I had them in my childhood room and loved them!

And who wouldn’t love a soaking tub like this??
