Chair Love
I have been wrapped up in work lately. Being couped up in an office is not very fun, especially when the winter weather makes things even more dreary. I am itching for spring! But, here is a beautiful office for inspiration. If I were sitting in this office while doing my work maybe I would be feeling a bit more motivated. Maybe. I will also have some WEDDING photos coming soon! 🙂
Is that not an awesome chair?! Hope that helps your winter blues, and that spring is on the way!
Little Random Project
We have been hard at work over here. Finally one tiny, random project to show for it! lol. At a garage sale recently we found a couple of items to keep us even more busy, including this vintage wooden rocking horse. Rough shape, but only $2, so we decided to give him a little work.
Before:
And after some cleaning up and a new tail and handle…
There is not much in this little room… yet… but I think this will make a super cute addition some day.
We have also been celebrating! More news to come! And, we are exactly four months away from our wedding date!!
Simple Table Setting For Two
We have been keeping busy around here. Mostly working on wedding projects, and although I would love to show you some of them, I am making myself wait until after the big day. So, here is a tid bit of the fun around here, a table setting just for the two of us. Jeremy even helped me think of the fun center piece! 🙂
What do you think? Simple, fun, and totally us. lol. Hope you are all having a nice early spring!
Easter!
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend! We sure did here. We had a small family dinner at our house and then did some yard work. Very festive, I know. I thought I would share with you our Easter table!
Notice anything different? How about that table? Yes, I finally tried the Restore on it! It worked so well, I think I’m in love! It did not removed the weird patterned spot, so the table is still not perfect, and probably never will be. But, it is so much better! The Restore really does a great job on scratches and scuffs. Anyways, how about the Easter setting? Jeremy even helped to decorate some eggs! I blew out real eggs so that we can save them for next year!
Here is one of Jeremy and I:
Here are the three generations of women in our family who came:
What did you all do for the holiday? 🙂
Lilacs!
I love lilacs. I always have. My mom always had lilac bushes when I was a kid and now the smell reminds me instantly of carefree summers. What better smell to have in your yard than “carefree summer scent”? Well, as much as I love them, my new yard has no lilac bushes. 😦 I have been bugging Jeremy to help me plant a bush or two, but time is hard to come by. Someday! But for now, my mom brought me some branches to freshen the house for a bit!
Beautiful! You can almost smell spring coming out of the photo, no? I wish these would stick around all year! I might possibly be able to have my own bushes sooner than I thought, though. When mom brought the blooms she also brought a few roots for us as well! One is larger and two are small. She said they were very hard to dig out! We were afraid that they were beginning to wilt too much and might not make the transfer. She had heard putting tea bags in the water will help them take root. Have you ever tried this?
Here is the big one waiting for its new home:
And here are the two trying to grow more roots:
What do you think? Will these guys make it and make my yard smell wonderful in springs to come?? 🙂
Yard Work And Such
We inherited a lot of yard maintenance to take care of from the previous owners. I mean A LOT. With six acres I am sure that some of that is inevitable, but this is just over the top. The must have never done yard work once while they lived here. Never. The weeds, even in the close to the house areas, were over my head. The trees had split and grown funky many years ago. The rock garden was more like a dirt pit scattered with rocks. Need I go on? So, point being, this is our first spring here and we have been putting in a lot of hard work out there. I can’t wait to get a new shipment of rock and show you how the “for now” patio area is coming. But, for right now I thought I would show you just how much tree trimming we accomplished the other day.
Here is the shot looking back at the house and you can see how the rock beds are coming along and things are even turning green now!
And that is only the front! Hey, we have neighbors! 🙂 There were many other trees like this all over the property, not to mention weeds that had become their own trees all around the house, barns, and outbuildings. We have even uncovered some things we didn’t know were there when we moved in!! No joke! The other day we found an old metal lawn chair set up by a cattle shoot. They had made a shooting range down there and we couldn’t even see it! We found an old wheel borrow with what used to be flowers planted in it, various pieces of junk, both useful and non, and even learned we have an old hand-pumped well! And it works! Yea, so anyways, on to the fun part. With all of this hard work I just knew there would be some enjoyment in the end. Trimmed branches and a wine bottle…
Just a touch of spring, for the yard and for the house! Just in time for Easter. Gorgeous! 🙂
Spring Changes
Spring feels like it is here! I am so ready. My house, not yet. One thing that needed a quick change up was the curtains in the upstairs hallway. If you recall from the tour, one side of the hall had a silky striped curtain, and the other side had sheers that matched in style and color, but they had leaves on them. I never liked that the windows didn’t look the same. Plus, with the warm weather and the windows being opened, this was happening:
So, after brainstorming a while I decided to layer the two different curtains and then tie them back. I used a tension rod for now, which is held up on the main rod. It worked like a charm!
What do you think? The tie backs now hold the curtains from whipping in the wind and I think the whole layered look is more cohesive for the hallway. Super easy and I love the results. I love a project like that!
I feel better about the little thing done! Now on to tackle the yard. Six acres of lawn that the previous owners never, ever weeded. We have high hopes, and little time. I have started on the rock gardens and things are looking up. I will give you all a peek when we get some thing planted. Here is a shot of our back door area. There is a rocky, weedy disaster going on back here that we plan to take care of asap!
It is looking pretty bad back there, so I can’t wait to show you all what it turns into!
Spring Chair Love, And A Break
Spring is here! I am so excited, and my yard proves it! I have been working every spare moment in the yard and rock gardens to start fixing some of the weed-y damage left by the previous owners. Not always fun, but it is rewarding.
I am taking this free moment to gaze longingly at some relaxing pictures, like this one of the gorgeous chair and peaceful bathroom! Let me tell you what all has been keeping me so busy! To start, we got chickens! Oh, and there is my new job, getting ready for some painting and other home and yard projects, and planning the WEDDING! Yes, we are finally in full planing mode! It has been keeping me BUSY!! We are so excited, but definitely get no breaks as of late!
Also, the onset of spring and this gorgeous weather has reminded me that there is no place I’d rather be! No matter what anyone else thinks my life should be, I accomplished my dream, and we are living it right here. That is what keeps me going each day when there is so much to be done. Just thought I’d share! Now enjoy this lovely room, and check back soon for more projects around our place! 🙂
Thinking Spring and Weddings
So, not only have I been super busy with the new job and projects around home, but I am also planning our wedding for September 8. I didn’t tell you? 🙂
The groundhog may say there’s more winter, but I think if I keep imagining beautiful flowers like this, spring will be here before I know it.
These are also some of the wedding colors and style, so stay tuned for more ideas in that area too! Anyone else ready for spring!? Stay tuned for more projects around here as well!
Touch of Spring
Here’s a quick peek at the bit of spring I brought in today…
And just a little sneak peek into the kitchen and living room. Hope that helps brighten the day!
