Boys’ Room Reveal
I’ve worked on it for a year and I can finally say it’s as done as it’s getting right now. 🤣 When we moved to this house a year ago and I was pregnant, we decided the boys would share a room. This way I could have an office, and the office would double as a play room/workout room, so that kids could be in there while I worked if needed. I also knew that I wanted an outdoors-y theme that could work for both a baby and a young boy. Brantley already had a farm theme as a baby, with many pieces we wanted to incorporate, and he asked for camo bedding in his new room. If you’ve been here before, you also know that when we moved to this house it needed a lot of work. A lot. We ripped carpet out of this room, added electrical outlets and a light fixture, painted… and we still have more to do…eventually. But for now, here it is!
Each of the boys has a bit different theme on their side of the room, but with light gray walls, tree curtains, tree decals, and some animals throughout, it seems to flow for now.
Barrett’s baby shower theme was woodland animals, knowing that I would use the animal and nature idea for his room.
Brantley has kept some of his farm theme and added the camo to just be plain outdoorsy!
I made both of the boys’ mobiles, which Brantley has outgrown the need for, but are both too cute to get rid of for now.
What do you think? The way we organize clothes will change as the boys grow and we remodel some more. The room currently has no closet. Thanks, old 1862 house. It’s an evolving work in progress. But the boys love having their own space and even love sharing for now. 😆
XOXO,
Jess
Simple Table Setting For Two
We have been keeping busy around here. Mostly working on wedding projects, and although I would love to show you some of them, I am making myself wait until after the big day. So, here is a tid bit of the fun around here, a table setting just for the two of us. Jeremy even helped me think of the fun center piece! 🙂
What do you think? Simple, fun, and totally us. lol. Hope you are all having a nice early spring!
Our Christmas Style
Yes, it’s a little late, but I thought that I would share our Christmas decor with you. Inspiration is good anytime, right?Â
So, here are a few of our first tree together! (we did eventually find the perfect green skirt! ) We went with a bit of a “camo” theme with colors this year. That was my nod to Jeremy. We used golds and greens and bronzes on the tree. My photos don’t seem to do it justice, but it was really pretty.Â
See the antler ornaments? Shimmery pinecones helped add sparkle too!
Our rustic bronze star was really pretty too.Â
Camo snowmen…
My “dance in the snow” pillow…
In the dining room we displayed my grandparents’ jewelry tree. Grandpa made this out of Grandma’s old jewelry.Â
Here is a close up of the sparkle, as this may be the last year for this tree. I might be using the jewelry for another very special project. Might, as in I have not made up my mind to tear down this beauty. Hmmm…
The two of us spent our night alone together quietly, so here’s a peak of our simple blue table.
It was basic but cute, and also easy.
And, although there was no snow on Christmas in Iowa, I took these a bit before hand of the first snow at our new house. Come to think of it, I don’t think I have shared a view of the outside of our home, so here is the front…
The side…
And a view towards our barns…
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!
Rustic Chair, Blanket, Antler Love
It has been super busy around here, but I wanted to drop in and leave you with a cozy winter photo. Not only do I love the old shabby chair, but also the thick knit blanket and the antlers…

Hope to have more projects for you soon! 🙂
Inspiring Chair Love
I have not posted a “Chair Love” post in a while, so, I thought I would show a few that have caught my eye lately. All are different and unique, and inspiring!
I love the updated print on the old chair. It goes well with the natural wood. I also love the sheepskin!
So bright and fun! And in this case the orange painted wood looks wonderful!
Right now I am craving anything tufted! Especially when the tufting is on soft, aged leather! MMM
It’s snowing here today, but this chair has me thinking about sun porches and nice weather!
I have also been craving fresh antique couches like this one, as we hate our couch. lol. Check out the link, because the have a bunch of awesome refinished chairs!
And, last but not least, a chair just for Jeremy…
Hope you are inspired! 🙂
Some Fall Decor
It’s getting a bit late in the season, but I thought I’d share our fall spirit with you.
This is a basket we bought at the Threshers this year. We agreed on it because of the antlers! lol
I filled the basket with gourds. To keep them up towards the top of the basket I stuffed it first with tissue paper. I also kept the tag on the basket to remember who the craft vendor was!
We also each got a pumpkin, which we kept on the porch…
One of our black kittens on the porch too. Meet Patch…
Here’s how our carved pumpkins turned out…
John Deere and a scary laughing face. lol
Happy fall ya’ll!
Beautiful Inspiration
Desire to Inspire recently featured the works of Claire Larritt-Evans, the ultra talented designer behind Fenton & Fenton. I found every single image inspiring! This was my favorite:
Oh, and did you notice the antler chandelier, again?Â

Antler Hooks
All of the homes that Design Sponge features are simply beautiful! But, today I found one of them to be particularly inspiring!
The home of the owners of Antler&Co is not only beautiful, but I am stealing this antler wall hook idea!
Gorgeous, no? See the rest of the home here: http://www.designsponge.com/2011/06/sneak-peek-greg-grey-of-antlerco.html
Antler Ideas
We have a lot of antlers. A lot. I happen to love them. And I love getting inspiration from out in the blog-o-sphere on how to incorporate them into a chic home. Needless to say, I immediately fell in love with this idea.
This neat chandelier was seen on Material Girls’ blog where they posted about an adult tree house. See it here:  http://materialgirlsblog.com/chicago/2011/06/01/hanging-out/
My Windchime
The porch on the new house needed something. I couldn’t decide what. I wanted something unique and fun, but not noisy like metal chimes. Thanks to my boyfriend I think I now have the most unique idea out there. He suggested deer antlers. He had plenty of them, so we set to work.
First, he drilled holes in each antler. The antlers were strung on wire. Random bright coral and turquoise beads were added to the wires. The wires were then tied to a metal ring we found a the hardware store. The ring was then strung onto loops of wire to be hung. The finishing touch was to put a dot of Gorilla glue on each wire knot to keep them in place through the wind and weather. Here’s the finished product:
