Sensory Play Part 2

December 4, 2020 at 3:28 pm (Family Stuff, Mom Stuff) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I wanted to follow up with some more sensory play ideas we have found since getting our table. If you are new here, here is the first post on sensory play, where we talk about our table and some items that are super helpful!

First, get a funnel. These come in a pack of three and are collapsible silicone. Makes putting it all back SO much easier!

Another thing we’ve fallen in love with are these super cute jars from Busy Littles! You can even customize your jar with her, just message her on Instagram to order!

These are so fun because she adds acrylic letters and numbers that she makes! We got an alphabet that she customized to a camo theme! We also got one of her winter jars and a rainbow number jar. The boys LOVE them all!

So, what have we learned? That ANYTHING can be added to a sensory bin! The boys love that they can mix, stir, explore, dump, and keep the fun going for hours. Ok, minutes. They are kids. But still, its impressive. And anything that entertains both a 7 year old and a 2 year old is impressive in my book!

Also, here’s a peak at the Christmas box from Little Creators Texas too! We still love these also!

Have you tried sensory play yet?!

Some Fall Decor

November 16, 2011 at 3:20 pm (Seasonal Decor) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

It’s getting a bit late in the season, but I thought I’d share our fall spirit with you.

This is a basket we bought at the Threshers this year.  We agreed on it because of the antlers! lol

I filled the basket with gourds.  To keep them up towards the top of the basket I stuffed it first with tissue paper.  I also kept the tag on the basket to remember who the craft vendor was!

We also each got a pumpkin, which we kept on the porch…

One of our black kittens on the porch too.  Meet Patch…

Here’s how our carved pumpkins turned out…

John Deere and a scary laughing face. lol

Happy fall ya’ll!

A Gift Basket

October 20, 2011 at 7:41 pm (Projects) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I work for a non-profit agency and part of our yearly activity is to do a bit of fundraising to help out.  This year we decided to make gift baskets and then auction them off.  I volunteered to make a gift basket and then of course panicked, not knowing what to put in it!

So, I decided to make a basket of hot cocoa and coffees and all the fixins. I got this idea because a while back in a magazine I saw some antique spoons coated with chocolate and given as a gift with some drinks as stirers.  I started off with some vintage silver spoons and some chocolate…

Then I wrapped these cuties up.  I added some cute vintage mason jars and a tag for the cocoa…

I think it turned out pretty well, and it was super easy! Hope it raises some money! 🙂

Chandelier For The Porch

Here it is.  This is the fancy project I completely with the ugly, little, pink basket.

Here is the before picture:

Here is what I made:

I took a 75cent basket from the Salvation Army and spray painted it black.  I hung crystals and beads on it and added a length of chain.  I added some mini candles in jars and viola!  We now have a chandelier above the ice cream table on the porch!  I found this idea on Apartment Therapy and think its super cute.  What do you think?

Whats In Store For Next Week

March 20, 2009 at 1:38 pm (Projects) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Over the weekend I have a long list of fun little projects to tackle.  If I get myself into gear and get them done you can plan to see updates next week.  I hope to be working on the kitchen curtains, painting some pots, planting flowers, cleaning up the yard, building a fire pit, and working on redoing a headboard for the master bedroom.  It sounds like a lot, I know, but I think I have most of it covered! And, my favorite little project…

Check out what I do with this ugly little pink basket!

Check back all next week for updates, photos, and how-tos of my many projects!  Have a great weekend!
