Coffee Table Fix Up
It’s taken me over a year. But it’s finally done. I have a coffee table that I love, finally.
Before:
Perfect shape to hold lots of treasures, but outdated color and in rough shape.
After:
I sanded the table and then painted I’m gray (shock!) And then roughed it up. The top got a coat of a darker gray, and the whole table was finished with paste wax to protect it. I had to fix the drawer, but ended up keeping the old knobs. What do you think?
A New Chair Love And Wedding Tid Bits
I fell in love with another chair. That happens often, doesn’t it? My wonderful, loving fiance drove me an hour away to pick the cutie up. Now, we have one more seat in the living room. Best part of this little guy though, is that it would work in just about every room of the house as things evolve.
What do you think?? I’m in love. I love the navy and white stripes, but my favorite part is the nail head trim that goes all the way around the back. I think he is pretty old and was redone with changes to the bottom half and I just adore how they did it! He even has casters, which make it easy to reposition for company. And once the walls are painted I think this will work so well in here.
Also, we have been super swamped with wedding planning. I have made every little detail by hand, and wold love to show you all, but also want them to be a surprise, so that will have to wait! But, I did want to show our framed engagement picture. This will be used at the wedding too, but also will be on the wall in our living room, somewhere! Notice the same feel of the stripes? Not intended, but I love it! I took an old frame and painted it, then roughed it up. The mat was also painted in one of our wedding colors. I think it turned out really well.
I think the two new additions go so nicely together in the living room! And, the rest of the wedding details are coming along too! Can’t wait to share! Only three months from today! 🙂
The Perfect Mix
I have been keeping a notebook of ideas for each room in the house. Lately, Pinterest has made list making for these ideas so much easier! Here are some rooms that are, to me, the perfect mix!
Here is a gorgeous dining room. I love the cow hide rug layered over a larger, more simple one. I also love that striped settee!

I loved this office. I have been known to fall for over the top glam one minute and then over the top rustic the next, but this is the perfect mix. Perfect.
Another dining room with the perfect mix of an awesome rustic table and beautiful pink wallpaper.
Here is a great living room with an amazing sofa!
I am smitten with this window seat. I could nap there.
Hope these rooms bring you some inspiration too!
Chair Love
This week’s chair love is so fun! Enjoy!
I’d love to add some fun chairs to the new looking living room! 🙂
Living Room Brainstorming
I’ve said it before, we hate our living room couch. We have a small living room, but would like it to work better for us. So, what do we do when a friend is wanting to get rid of an almost new L shaped sectional in cream? Snatch it up!
It looks huge and things are in disarray right now, but it is so comfy, and much more what we were wanting for a more functional room. A sectional seems more modern than our house, but this one combines my love for tufting too! So, now I have been on the hunt for living room inspiration before making any decisions about ours. Enjoy my eclectic collection of musings…
I love the horse photo in this one. And, it’s a sectional.
This one is an L shaped couch and a smaller room like ours.
I love the gray of this couch. They are using a coffee table and the ottoman is separate for more seating. We are considering doing away with our coffee table and using a large tray on the ottoman. Hm?
Not a sectional, but I love a Chesterfield. Always inspiring. lol

I loved the patterned pillows in this living room. I am also digging the idea of the wall mounted lamps. We lack floor space and this might do the trick!

Another gray sectional, and I loved the mix of fun pillows!
Bright colors and a rustic coffee table.
Not exactly our style room, but I love the big coffee table and even the tweed on the couch!
Another room with no sectional, but how pretty!? I love everything about this one.
The next few rustic rooms are for Jeremy 😉
I love the mix in this room. The more subtle antlers, and especially the tufted chair!!
This one has the Chesterfield for me and the antler chandelier for Jeremy!
Any more ideas? Let us know! And soon I will show you progress on our room!
House Tour Continued: The Living Room
I have finally gotten around to taking more pictures of the house! Again, these are semi-befores, as I have put things away and somewhat decorated, but we have not done any remodeling or painting yet. We can start in the living room.
Here is the view from the steps that lead upstairs (where we toured before)…
Yes, the room is peach. No, it is NOT staying this way. Also, if I may vent, I hate the couch situation. That is the old floral couch from my “green lounge room” in the old house. We covered it with a slipcover (horrible idea!) and the ottoman is the red one one from the office covered in a sheet. This was our way of making a temporary L shaped couch. Yeah, I hope it doesn’t last long!
Also, I love the curatins, but I think they are getting traded with another room, more on that later! And sorry to those of you who do not like animals in decor, but this room has a lot of it. Fiance and I like it 🙂
The walls will soon be a grey. Also, the empty wall above the teal table has some art…just not hung yet!
Don’t mind the shelf that is in the process of being moved in the last photo! Next is a shot of the entertainment center. The last owners built this awesome rustic thing and left it. We had debated doing away with it, as it is very big, but it has grown on us! I think it may pop in a neat way once the walls are painted, so we will keep her for a while!
A shot of some antique keys hanging inside the entertainment center…
The makers of this cabinet hung a spoon handle on the outside as a coat hook. Such a cute idea!
There used to be a stove where the stone wall is.
Here is the view out our red front door…
fSo, what do you think? Its getting there. I can’t wait to paint! Stay tuned for the tour of the rest of the downstairs! 🙂
Inspiration and Big News
After being out of town, and a little out of touch, most of last week, I am finally catching up. Reading through a backlog of blogs today I ran across the most gorgeous farm house tour on Apartment Therapy.
The details of this home struck a cord with me, because we happen to have just bought an 1891 farm house. Yes, one more move! We close in about two weeks. We are anxious, nervous, excited, and very busy. This is the first time I will really be moving away, although not far, just to Iowa. This is our dream home, and we are very excited to remodel and decorate once there. Pictures soon to come!
But for now, here are two of my favorite images from Shannan and Cory’s home tour. Check out the rest here.
I love that light fixture! And the pillow is gorgeous! I am so excited to put some of this inspiration to use in the new place!
This was one of my favorite photos because of the crate used to hold towels. We found an old crate of glass bottles at a garage sale for a few dollars, and had planned to use the bottles as wedding decor. Little did we realize that the crate had a Tipton, IA business emblem on the side, which is where we later bought the house! I would love to incorporate our crate in a useful way like this!
What do you think?
