Some Handmade Gifts

April 28, 2013 at 5:48 pm (Projects) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi there!  I wanted to do a quick post to show you what we made for our family members for Christmas (and an upcoming wedding!).  I started with a few simple stone tiles from Menard’s.  I used a flat round brush, a stencil, and some solid paint pots.  I dabbed the paint on over the stencil without wiping.  I then added some clear coat and some felt pads to the bottom corners.  Now…we have personalized coasters!  I know I have seen this done before, but I had to share because they turned out so sweet and simple.  And, they didn’t break the bank!

What do you think?  I think they turned out great and it was a lot of fun making gifts this year instead of buying something no one needs! 🙂

Chair Love

February 12, 2013 at 2:46 pm (Inspiration) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I have been wrapped up in work lately. Being couped up in an office is not very fun, especially when the winter weather makes things even more dreary. I am itching for spring! But, here is a beautiful office for inspiration. If I were sitting in this office while doing my work maybe I would be feeling a bit more motivated. Maybe. I will also have some WEDDING photos coming soon! 🙂

Is that not an awesome chair?! Hope that helps your winter blues, and that spring is on the way!

A Little Monogram

December 19, 2012 at 8:37 am (Projects)

Like everyone else lately, I have been completely addicted to Pinterest. I have been seeing many ideas for monogram letters and it has been on my to-do list (which is always long) to make one for us. I finally got around to this quick project!

I made my letter “L” out of cardboard, by drawing the letter freehand and then cutting it out with a utility knife.

I then traced the letter on scrapbook paper that was perfect for our decor. I used some twine and some fabric. I have other embellishment ideas, but this is where I left it for now. Cute and simple.

Things are always changing in the house, but for right now our “L” is in the living room, tucked into a frame.

Thanksgiving 2012 and Our Christmas Tree

December 18, 2012 at 8:35 am (Seasonal Decor, Tid Bits)

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We have been very busy here lately (when are we not?), so we had a quiet Thanksgiving celebration here alone on Thanksgiving day and celebrated with family on the weekends. I thought I would share our simple table for two:

Simple, yet festive. Just what the two of us needed for a quiet dinner at home. 🙂 And, of course, there were antlers.

The rest of the weekend? We got ready for hunting season and found the perfect Christmas tree.

Here is our first Christmas together ornament from last year:

What did you all do for the holiday?

Fun Chair Love

August 1, 2012 at 9:32 am (Inspiration) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi, all! Wow, have things been busy around here. Wedding is 45 days away! But, while I had a moment away from wedding projects I thought I would share some fun chairs that I absolutely adore!

Anything turquoise, especially in leather…mmm…

This room is a little too silver and modern for me normally, but this curvy chair done in a patchwork of prints is just awesome!

I love this dark walled room and even more love this zebra chair!

I have no words for how cool this chair is… AND, I can’t read all of the post, but this one was definitely a very neat DIY, so go check out the site!

Hope you enjoyed as much as I did! Updates coming soon!

A New Chair Love And Wedding Tid Bits

June 15, 2012 at 9:04 am (Home Changes and Additions) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I fell in love with another chair. That happens often, doesn’t it? My wonderful, loving fiance drove me an hour away to pick the cutie up. Now, we have one more seat in the living room. Best part of this little guy though, is that it would work in just about every room of the house as things evolve.

What do you think?? I’m in love. I love the navy and white stripes, but my favorite part is the nail head trim that goes all the way around the back. I think he is pretty old and was redone with changes to the bottom half and I just adore how they did it! He even has casters, which make it easy to reposition for company. And once the walls are painted I think this will work so well in here.

Also, we have been super swamped with wedding planning. I have made every little detail by hand, and wold love to show you all, but also want them to be a surprise, so that will have to wait! But, I did want to show our framed engagement picture. This will be used at the wedding too, but also will be on the wall in our living room, somewhere! Notice the same feel of the stripes? Not intended, but I love it! I took an old frame and painted it, then roughed it up. The mat was also painted in one of our wedding colors. I think it turned out really well.

I think the two new additions go so nicely together in the living room! And, the rest of the wedding details are coming along too! Can’t wait to share! Only three months from today! 🙂

Little Random Project

May 16, 2012 at 10:57 am (Projects) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

We have been hard at work over here. Finally one tiny, random project to show for it! lol. At a garage sale recently we found a couple of items to keep us even more busy, including this vintage wooden rocking horse. Rough shape, but only $2, so we decided to give him a little work.

Before:

And after some cleaning up and a new tail and handle…

There is not much in this little room… yet… but I think this will make a super cute addition some day.

We have also been celebrating! More news to come! And, we are exactly four months away from our wedding date!!

So, here is a tid bit of the fun around here, a table setting just for the two of us. Jeremy even helped me think of the fun center piece! 🙂

What do you think? Simple, fun, and totally us. lol. Hope you are all having a nice early spring!
